Network Intercultural Theology

In the German-speaking contexts, the young discipline «Intercultural Theology» faces questions of positioning and profile within the discipline of Theology, and within global Christianity. Consequently, research topics have broadened beyond the former discipline of «Mission Studies» (Missionswissenschaft). In this new orientation phase, creating scholarly networks that encourage and enable cooperation among professionals is essential. This is particular relevant for early-career scholars, including PhDs and Post-docs in Intercultural Theology.

The «Network Intercultural Theology» (NIT), was established in June 2021, with participation from the University of Basel, the Ruhr-University Bochum, University of Hamburg and University of Heidelberg. Our aim is to foster networks of early-career academics in Intercultural Theology. Our regular conferences provide spaces to discuss novel perspectives and developments in this discipline.
